N. Barry Daniel

Mr. N. Barry Daniel, Police Chief (Retired) has a long police service record, serving the community of Abbotsford, BC as chief for 13 years. Prior to his appointment as a police chief, Mr. Daniel served in many senior positions within the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), and as the Director of Internal Affairs for Public Works Canada.

Mr. Daniel brings his many years of senior law enforcement and criminal justice administrative knowledge to the clients of JAZ Consulting Limited. He has many years of expertise in such things as investigations, adjudicative hearings, and auditing of operational police and public security issues. As part of his responsibilities, Mr. Daniel planned, organized and established audit criteria for critical police services, operations, systems and policing programs.

He holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree from the University of Ottawa and a BA in Psychology from the University of Victoria. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia and completed the Executive Development Program at the Canadian Police College in Ottawa.

Mr. Daniel's years of investigative and administrative expertise brings JAZ Consulting clients a unique insight into daily security management issues and problems that are identified through a proven process of auditing, interviews and fact-finding.

Mr. Daniel is very skilled with the identification and auditing of Security Management problems, and the ability to distill critical components to their core for components in order to rectify deficiencies. He then maps out an action plan for corrective action and mitigation of threats.

Mr. Daniel has served as both President of the British Columbia Association of Municipal Police Chiefs and the British Columbia Association of Police Chiefs. He chaired the Police Chiefs committee which dealt with the Commission of Inquiry into policing in British Columbia. Mr. Daniel also served as the co-chairman of the Crown/Chiefs of Police Committiee. He was also a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police.

He has served on numerous police/provincial committees that included implementation of standards, high speed pursuit regulations, use of force, and a host of other public security issues. Mr. Daniel was also a member of the Crime Prevention Association of Canada and is a graduate and member of the FBI National Academy Association.
